An assumption that many leaders make that hurts their business…

Welcome to the Mosaic Minute.
In each video, I’ll answer one leadership question in about one minute.

Today’s question: Do I need to spend time developing a senior person that I have just hired? Since this individual has a lot of experience, shouldn’t they be self-sufficient from day one on the job?

This question is tricky as the answer is both “yes” and “no”. Sure, there are many skills and experiences that a senior person brings to your team. But, don’t forget that they will still need some coaching from you in other areas.

Find out more in today’s video.

What assumptions have you made about the skill set of the senior people on your team? What are their gaps either in terms of skills or behaviours? Where do you need to invest some time coaching them in order to accelerate the learning of key skills or behaviours?

Do you have a burning leadership question?

Email it to me at vanessa@mosaicpd.com and I will confidentially address it in a future Mosaic Minute episode.
