How to be an agile leader

Why is there a growing demand for agile organizations these days?

Have you heard of VUCA?

It is an acronym that stands for:

  • Volatility
  • Uncertainty
  • Complexity
  • Ambiguity

VUCA is now the new normal.

In fact, in a recent research study, Wiley Inc. interviewed 2500 people. 95% of these individuals said agility is more important to their organizations today than it was 5 years ago.

What does this mean for you?

It means that you have to be agile to survive in our new world of work.

Let’s look at a couple of organizational trends that demand agile leaders.

  1. Constant industry disruption: This requires leaders to be agile enough to change direction at short notice
  2. The shift away from a hierarchical organizational structure: Organizations are not as hierarchical as they used to be. This means that leaders need to be comfortable with shared power and must be able to navigate ambiguous boundaries with their peers.

In this video, I share 3 things you need to do to be an agile leader.
