One of the frequent questions that I get from leaders is, “How do I deliver the results that I want at work?”
It’s such a great question considering most leaders juggle numerous priorities and responsibilities.
Before I answer this question, let me share the top reason leaders are NOT achieving their desired results.
They are “winging it” too much.
I realize that your schedule is packed each day.
I understand that you spend a lot of time putting out fires.
However, “winging it” always decreases your output and results.
➡️ So, are you planning for meetings and setting an agenda?
➡️ Do you prepare in advance when you need to give feedback?
➡️ Are you taking a few minutes to write your to-do list each day?
These are just three small things that you can do to stop “winging it” and achieve better results at work.
In essence, if you want better results, you need to be more strategic.
So, here are three steps that you can take to plan more, be more strategic and deliver great results:
- Take a step back. You need to identify the results that you want to achieve. Take a minute to write a list of your top three goals each quarter.
- Break down your goals. Once you establish your goals, break them down into smaller steps. Don’t get overwhelmed by your large goals. Simply tackle them one step at a time.
- Delegate. You won’t be able to accomplish your key goals by yourself. Figure out which pieces of each goal you need to accomplish yourself and which tasks you can delegate. Find the right person to trust with each task and then follow up with them to hold them accountable.
Are you someone who is “winging it” too much? If so, what one thing can you do differently to deliver better results?
