Ready for the possibilities of 2024?

Welcome to 2024!

I hope you enjoyed your holiday season.

I was fortunate enough to go on a family vacation to Mexico for two weeks.

We were able to relax and have some fun in the sun after a challenging 2023.

My first message of the year is inspired by the artist Liz Fosslien.

I saw this image and thought it was very poignant.

As we start a new year, it is filled with possibilities.

But I have learned one thing in life: nothing comes to you if you don’t speak up and ask for what you want. 

Last year, one of my clients was overlooked for a promotion. She was very upset. So, I encouraged her to ask her boss for feedback. During her conversation with her boss, he indicated that he had no idea that she was interested in the role.

Why?

She never spoke up.
She never asked him for a promotion.
She never told him that she was secretly hoping she would get the role.

Don’t keep your goals, wishes and desires a secret.
It is unrealistic to expect that other people will spontaneously notice and reward your contributions.
You have to share them.
You have to ask for what you want.

Be clear on your career goals for this year. 
Do you want a promotion?
Do you desire a new job?
Is there an exciting project that you want to work on?
Is there a skill that you know you need to develop?

Once you are clear on your goal, then you must take action! 

Ask for feedback.
Ask for help.
Ask for a coach or a mentor.
Ask for the promotion.
Ask for the new job.
Ask to attend that leadership course or conference.
Ask people out for a coffee if you think they can assist you in achieving your goals.

Commit to yourself in 2024.
Strive for excellence.
Make this year a fulfilling and rewarding one.
After all… the possibilities are endless!
